Full Mouth Reconstruction For Multiple Dental Problems

At Hereford Dental Health – Craig Longenecker DDS, many urgent care patients come in because a toothache is unbearable.

We provide a variety of procedures to stop tooth pain. More importantly, we eliminate the underlying cause of the pain.

It may require removing cavities and crowning a tooth. It may require a root canal.

But…

Sometimes a patient has a whole bunch of problems and a toothache is only one of them.

The good news is that we offer total mouth reconstruction.

What is Full Mouth Reconstruction?

Total mouth reconstruction is a multi-procedure smile makeover. The combination of procedures depends on the specific problems. There is no less-than-attractive smile that can’t be upgraded.

Dental implants or implant-anchored dentures restore missing teeth. If there is an insufficient bone structure for securing an implant, we can strengthen existing bone with a bone graft.

Soft tissue grafts repair gum recession. Porcelain crowns can fix damaged teeth. Porcelain veneers can correct less extensive cosmetic imperfections like chips and cracks. Tooth whitening takes care of stains and discoloration.

Total Mouth Reconstruction: A Case Study

Let’s describe a hypothetical full mouth reconstruction.

First, the ’99’ problems (okay, there were about 15):

‘Jim’ was a 67-year-old man with a mouthful of problems. He had received extensive radiation for cancer several years earlier. The radiation therapy damaged soft tissues in his mouth. This led to the gum recession which revealed the metal bases of two old crowns.

The exposed tooth roots had decayed. Three of his teeth had to be extracted. Four of his existing teeth were cracked. Jim also had a bone recession at the extraction sites. Plus a couple of old crowns that were broken.

Tha Hereford Dental Health – Craig Longenecker DDS solution:

Jim received dental implant procedures for the missing teeth. We made new crowns to replace the broken ones. We completed soft tissue grafts to correct the gum recession. Two of his existing teeth were cracked but intact and decay-free. We fixed these teeth with porcelain veneers.

The result; a beautiful brand-new smile!

Every tooth in the mouth restored. No amalgam fillings.

If you have 99 dental problems, give us a call. We invite you to schedule an entire mouth reconstruction consultation.
