Water Flossing and Dental Health in Monkton

Monkton should I use waterpik?

Your dental health depends on proper hygiene, and that means brushing and flossing at least once a day (twice is better). At Hereford Dental Health in Monkton, we’re often asked about water flossing, so here’s the scoop.

The first water-shooting device for cleaning between teeth was developed in the early 1960’s. It is known today as the Waterpik, though many people use the term generically. Since its creation, numerous other companies have entered the market with similar products (although we do not necessarily endorse any specific brand).

A water irrigation instrument oscillates a stream of water through a narrow tube to shoot fragments of food and plaque from around and between teeth. To use it, put the tube into your mouth, turn it on, and lean over the sink with your mouth slightly open. Let the water drain out as you move the stream around the gumline, and the gaps between teeth.

The team at Hereford Dental Health in Monkton is here to help you learn the best way to keep your gums pink and healthy, with firmly attached, cavity-free teeth. Services include general and family dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign clear braces, and sleep apnea and snoring treatment.
